The conflict in Peru, which was dubbed "Original Peru" due to its pandemic twist, is now known as Operation Mercury vs. Gold Fever

 "Operation Mercury" (Operation Mercurio) was launched by the Peruvian government in February 2019 to eliminate the negative effects of illegal artisanal and small-scale gold mining in the La Pampa area, which is almost entirely prohibited by the Interoceanic Highway. North of the highway, however, mining is primarily legal in mining concessions. The buffer zone Thames Valley, located further south of the highway strictly prohibited mining.
