The question is no longer “if” this will happen, but “when” the dam will burst and cause a disaster of unfathomable consequences. One of the largest gold mines in the world is located in a protected area and threatens water sources by contaminating heavy metals, cyanide and tons of other toxic substances from chemical gold mining.
