Human Rights Council Holds Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Implications for Human Rights of the Environmentally Sound Management and Disposal of Hazardous Substances and Wastes

 The human rights of miners, their families and communities were increasingly threatened by mercury pollution. The use of mercury for small-scale gold mining was the main source of mercury pollution globally, and mercury releases and emissions from small-scale gold mining had been increasing.
