 On the other hand, ASM have been their means of livelihood, and they gave up the use of mercury in the extraction of minerals as a guarantee of their care of water and the environment. Starting off from these principles and their experience, they demand the formalization and legalization of ASM, the verification of processes to exert responsible mining, prevent foreign involvement and design a special ancestral mining reserve.
