Indigenous leaders end up being killed,” said Rodrigo Agostinho, a federal congressman with the Brazilian Socialist Party who has long advocated for environmental issues. “It’s a really sad moment that we’re living in, especially for those who fight for the forest,” he told Mongabay by phone.
