Public health priorities include addressing air and water pollution, improving waste management and addressing marine debris, collaborating on infectious disease response, supporting the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), and biosecurity engagement.  The unit also addresses environmental issues related to artisanal and small-scale gold mining, including mercury pollution.
