For instance- children who work in gold mines get exposed to mercury which is used to extract gold and is highly toxic. Mercury affects a person’s brain, heart, kidney, and lungs and mercury poisoning leads to long-term developmental disabilities also. Therefore, working for 10-14 hours in dark mines which are filled with poisonous chemicals has a constant risk of fatal accidents and injuries.
