“We came to do an inspection as we have received complaint letters. The residents who complained are not wrong. The creek the villagers have to depend upon was destroyed by waste. At present, we have told the company to stop mining. The company will have to restore the creek. Suggestions to stop illegal acts and guidelines for doing things legally are included in the report. We will submit it within this week.” U Kyaw Thiha said.
Yehtwet villagers reported grievances in May about the environmental impact caused by gold mining and job opportunity losses.
