The community learning tour was organised by the National Association of Professional Environmentalists (NAPE); with support from the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (NAPE this year launched an awareness campaign in Mubende district against the unsafe use of mercury in artisanal gold mining.
The campaign is also aimed at raising the general awareness on the need for sound management of chemicals and their wastes among communities. The community learning tour to Geita is part of the awareness campaign drive that is aimed at facilitating exchange of knowledge and the transfer of skills among communities.
