“Cattle ranching and illegal gold mines are the top two reasons for
deforestation here,” says Rubén Guerrero from Colombia’s Ministry of
Environment and Development. He explains that if the current rate of
forest loss was to continue, half of Colombia’s rainforest would be gone
by the end of the century.
