Kalinga raises awareness on effects of mercury pollution

The government agencies recently called on the participation of their partners in government and civil society for an awareness raising seminar with planning and workshop to address the concerns involving the alleged trade and use of mercury in Tabuk City.

Mercury is considered one of the most toxic chemicals, as it could enter the human body by breathing its vapors and through consumption of contaminated food.

Effects include damage to the brain, kidney, and lungs and acquiring diseases like Acrodynia (pink disease), Hunter-Russell Syndrome, and Minamata Disease.
