"We have no other alternative. This is the only place the community can get water. And the only way we sure the water good is because it don't poison nobody yet," said Delroy James, who has been the caretaker and watchman for the property for over 11 years.
It was only three years ago that the gold mine was embroiled in an environmental disaster, following the death of a cow after the animal drank from the spring. Cyanide had reportedly leaked from a rotting container, which found its way into the water supply.
