Ghana: Forty Years of Environmental Protection - Degraded Water Bodies

In the considered opinion of The Chronicle, however, its inability to enforce the National Environmental Action Plan for comprehensive, consistent and coherent programme to manage the environment that it launched with fanfare in 1991, detracts from its achievements.
If we have had such a national action plan since 1991, why did we sit down unconcerned while illegal miners polluted our water bodies and left life-threatening craters in our gold-mining areas? Did we ask for an environmental taskforce and were not given?
