Africa's vast resources were plundered to support the development of
Britain - and other European powers - while contributing minimally to
the development of the continent.
Indeed, Africans have little to show for centuries of exploitation of
their mineral resources. Poverty on the continent is as bad as ever.
Inequality is also just as severe, if not worse, and there are
increasing conflicts between extractive companies and communities.
