‘True cost of water’ beyond mining’s ability to calculate - Russell

Concerns about the true cost of water in mining have led to increasing regulatory scrutiny and community activism to stop or delay mining projects, seen regulatory permit withdrawals, preemptive watershed assessments, and litigation which has gone all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, observed Hecla Mining External Relations Vice President, Luke Russell in a keynote address concerning water and mining processing Monday.
