Decision on huge Bristol Bay mine belongs to Alaska, Sen. Lisa Murkowski says

The state of Alaska, not the feds, should decide whether to allow a huge open pit copper and gold mine near two of Bristol Bay’s prime salmon streams, Sen. Lisa Murkowrski, R-Alaska, argued in a Seattle appearance Friday.
Commercial and sport fisheries interests in Seattle — as well as leading restaurant owners — have strongly opposed the proposed Pebble Mine.
