Manila: $14-M water-treatment facilities for King King mine project eyed

Over the years, the operation of artisanal and small-scale gold mining in this town have caused rivers to be silted  and, worse, polluted with harmful bacteria and mercury, a hazardous substance used by small-scale gold miners.
Each water-treatment facility can treat a few hundred to several thousand gallons of water per minute, depending on the size of the plant.
The facilities will filter water systems, allowing the removal and stacking of dry sediments on one hand, and treat water to make biological and chemical oxygen-demand levels at a minimum.
