If Gabriel Resources (GBU-T 0.78 0.03 4.00%)
Rosia Montana gold project is scrapped by Romanian politicians the
Canadian miner will sue for over $4 billion US, CEO Jonathan Henry
tells BNN.
Henry says while he hopes for a happy ending on what would be
Europe's largest gold mine, but he's not averse to taking the legal
route.
"Should the Romania government or Parliament decide to reject
this project, then under international investment treaties we do have
rights," he says. "This has been going on for a long time and,
therefore, if there's a red light given to us, we need to look at what
those rights should be. We believe we have [a] very strong case that
would require the Romanian government to pay over $4 billion."
