To help resolve rampant conflicts that has characterized relations between large scale mining companies and small scale miners, Hon. Inusah Fuseini suggested that the latter could pilot a new model under which they (large mining companies) could train small scale miners to acquire basic technical know-how as well as lessons on health and safety standards as part of their programme to secure their "social licence".
"There is also the needed to commission the Intermediate Technology Transfer Unit (ITTU) to fashion out appropriate equipment for the small scale mine to enable government cut off the vicious cycle of using tax revenue collected from large mining companies to remedy negative impact of the operations of small scale miners" said Hon Inusah Fuseini.
The Sector Minister commended the Ghana Chamber of Mines for its continued support for government's effort to stamp out the galamsey menace and revealed that the intervention of the Inter-Ministerial Taskforce against illegal mining has helped to eliminate child labour from the industry.
