Fairmined certified gold is produced by artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) as per Fairmined standards, including responsible mining where the miners work under certain labor conditions, receive fair wages, and are required to help develop their communities.
"For several years North American jewelers have been working to make Fairmined gold available to their markets," said Lina Villa Cordoba, the executive director for the ARM. "The recent arrival of the gold is a great achievement that offers ASM miners the opportunities they deserve for sustainable livelihoods and ensuring them that their diligent efforts to mine in a socially and environmentally responsible manner will be recognized and rewarded."
