Hellas Gold is a daughter company of Canadian mining corporation Eldorado Gold, which is planing a mining project in Skouries on the Chalkidiki peninsula.Mining company Hellas Gold expect s the mine to be up and running by mid 2015 creating about 2000 jobs for the next five years. But while some see the gold mine seen as a savior as Greece enters a sixth year of recession amid record-high unemployment others revile it as an environmental catastrophe that will do little to help the economy.
