Dozens Hurt, Emergency Declared As Kyrgyz Protesters, Police Clash

A state of emergency has been declared in northern Kyrgyzstan after clashes broke out between police and local residents protesting and disrupting services to the country's biggest gold mine. 

A Kyrgyz Health Ministry official said at least 55 people were injured in the clashes in the village of Barskoon, including 13 police officers.
