A two-day workshop and training on the proper diagnosis of mercury poisoning was recently conducted by a non-government organization for rural health workers of Balbalan to enable them advocate for a mercury-free small-scale gold mining operations in the area.
Ban Toxics (Bantox) point person Digna Linggayo of Balbalan said the workshop aims to come up with a plan for the municipal health workers on how they would conduct the information education campaign (IEC).
