Sudan: Ministry of Mining Set to Exceed Gold Production Target

Minister of Mining, Kamal Abdul Latif, expects his Ministry to exceed target production of gold estimated at 50 tons by virtue of modern equipment imported from Philippine and some other countries. 

Speaking at Iftar attended by SMC, the Minister said the imported equipments would bring about a qualitative shift in gold production and would reduce dependence on use of mercury by gold miners. 

He said some companies also expressed desire to bring in equipments that would assist in extracting gold from wastes of traditional mining. 

Meanwhile, undersecretary of the Ministry of Mining, Abbas Al Sheikh, said the gold produced by Hijajiya Company on the first day of exploration reached 18 kg
