Gold and Mercury: a dangerous mix

Unfortunately, the dangers of mercury does not discourage users accustomed to it, that rely solely on this material to feed their families and to live under one roof. In Colombia the situation becomes critical. Most shops or workplaces are linked to the mines, and particularly gold mining, which reads on handling some of the mercury. The prevailing atmosphere is full of harmful gases and rates of disease caused by contact of this metal reached significant peaks. Similar cases have been known throughout the world, whether in Latin America, Africa or Asia. World trade of the metal affects the populations of different nationalities and varied, the only thing they have in common is the only job available to them: the mines.
