He said new measures are taken to reduce risk to health of gold miners and to increase their production, adding that safety equipments would also be provided to miners.
Representative of the Ministry of Health Dr. Babikir Al Magboul said the launch of this convoy was in implementation of policies of the Ministry aiming at improving mining environment in those areas, adding that the convoy targets 80,000 gold miners who would be vaccinated against meningitis. He said the Ministry conducted a survey and is in the know of the kind of diseases contracted by traditional gold miners.
The Minister said the manner in which traditional gold miners use mercury is harmful to their health.
