Alaska: Amended mercury resolution on council’s agenda

The resolution states that in order to protect the health of the people of the Kuskokwim River and their natural resources used for subsistence, the Bethel City Council urges the State of Alaska, the Federal government and Donlin Gold LLC to examine the potential mercury exposure pathways independent of the permitting system, mandate that mercury export manifests be publicly available, and that baseline and ongoing air, water, and fish tissue monitoring be conducted to identify unforeseen mercury contamination of the Kuskokwim River Watershed.
