Anti–Ceausescu Hero In Mine Stand

Laszlo Toekes, whose opposition to Romania’s late dictator Nicolae Ceausescu sparked the country’s 1989 anti-communist revolt, has quit the party he founded.
Mr Toekes is leaving the Union of Democratic Hungarians in Romania because its leaders back plans to build a gold mine in Transylvania that would use cyanide extraction.
