Mining Company Quiet On Excessive Mercury Levels

Three workers at the Macraes gold mine near Palmerston were treated in 2010 to remove the mercury after being exposed to vapour in a processing room to levels up to 20 times those considered safe.
The exposure was revealed in a highly critical Department of Labour report released under the Official Information Act, Fairfax reported.
