'I agree with fighting the illegal mining outfits that use chemicals like cyanide and mercury, because they are a menace,' geologist and analyst Julio Fierro told IPS. 'But well-organised, legal mining can also have a high impact. And AGA is among the largest and most irresponsible companies. It is not at all right to open up holes in the high mountains.'
