Central Binh Dinh Province's People's Committee on Wednesday suspended Duc Nghia Company's gold mining project in Hoai An District's An Tuong Tay Commune for causing pollution.
The company was granted a licence to mine gold in November last year. However, since starting work, the project has come under attack from local people for causing pollution.
Local farmers had to abandon 18ha of fields affected by waste water containing poisonous chemicals from the mine site in Phu Huu Village. — VNS
