The gold flow is organized in a manner that diggers extract ores in licensed areas (with labor from locals and migrants some from as far as South Soudan), transport mineralized them in plastic bags to nearby milling plants mostly using donkeys’ back for crushing and washing. This is due to water scarcity as Sudan as the country is mostly a desert. At the milling plant, miners get their ores crushed and recover gold with mercury. Miners are fee to sell their gold at any trader after using the milling infrastructure for free.
