Much have been said by the media, publics, academic and even the communities that are been affected by these operations negatively. The government on the other hands is also making efforts to abolish such acts but hasn't been an easy task. These activities has affected communities and Ghana as a whole as our source of water bodies are being destroyed. Harmful chemicals such as mercury are being released unto the surfaces these water bodies. These toxic substances have long term health implications on communities for generations. Not only these harmful substances released into our bodies but also into the air. Realising of gaseous mercury is bad for our body system, when inhaled can damage our central nervous system.
