Thousands of people in Nakudi village in Namayingo district have abandoned their regular sources of livelihood for gold-mining after discovering flakes of gold along the shore of Lake Victoria.
The environmentalists however warn that the mining poses serious risks to the Lake due to the residents' use of mercury to purify the gold.
