Environmental degradation, mainly due to pollusion, is reportedly threatening safety of water in Zigi River, which is the main source of water for Tanga City residents and parts of Muheza District.
According to the Tanga Urban Water and Sewerage Authority (Tanga Uwasa), increasing human activities around the river is among major challenges facing the authority.
