Ever since the arrival of Goldcorp mining activities in Kingston, residents of the town and surrounding area have been less than impressed at the arrival of some suspicious health troubles.
Many residents are reporting signs of various health problems, some relatively minor, such as increased rates of asthma and emphysema, and other issues more serious, such as diabetes, and chemical burns. While it cannot be asserted that these symptoms are definitely the cause of possible groundwater and soil contamination from the mine, there is evidence of such things occurring in the past. For the time being, residents of Kingston are advised to only drink filtered water and to limit their exposure to unfiltered city water and groundwater as much as possible.
