The Corporate and Information Services Department is believed to have denied intentionally blocking the sites, instead calling it a "technical error".
But Bill Daw discovered last week that the entire public service network had been barred from his personal Facebook page and his "Save the Edith and Daly Rivers from Environmental Catastrophe" page, which opposes the reopening of the Mt Todd mine.....
The pages hosted robust debate about the Vista Gold plan to work the Mt Todd mine, which is home to at least seven large ponds full of acid water contaminated with heavy metals.
It is believed the Government blocked access in the lead-up to a decision to allow the mining company to release 11 gigalitres of water from one of those ponds into the Edith River.
The contaminated water has been treated with lime but will still contain 28 times the allowable limit of the heavy metal cadmium, shown to collect in the flesh of fish, cause birth defects and possibly cancer.
