"Many towns, villages and environmental groups do not agree with the mining plans because of fears industrial work will damage the local ecology," he said. "Another problem in the Czech Republic is a ban on the use of cyanide technology for gold extraction. We do not have any real legislative and professional solutions to the issue."
Morávek's hopes now hinge on a new raw materials policy being prepared by Industry and Trade Minister Martin Kuba, which aims to remove some of the red tape that analysts believe is stifling economic development.
