Mr. Mackenzie missed the point of the letter I'm afraid, yet made a great one himself. In his letter he states that when he worked for a mine they used cyanide in the process. If you ask me, that says enough right there. It may be safe, it may not ever pollute the water and an accident may never happen but why on earth take that chance when you don't have to.
That was the point of his letter and that's something I think we can all support. Nobody said don't mine anywhere but over 8,000 people rely on that water for drinking, cooking and cleaning.
Water sustains life; gold does not.
