As Guatemala's newly inaugurated President, ex-general Otto Perez Molina, assumes control of the government (despite widespread allegations that he was an intellectual and material author of war crimes including the Guatemalan genocide in the 1980s), there is no end in sight to Canadian/American mining investments, profits and the resultant environmental and health harms, other human rights violations, and community divisions.
